Xavier Yang and family opened Sweet Haus on December 1, 2023 — bringing Hmong heritage, Korean street food, and bubble tea to La Crosse for the very first time.
The Opening on Campbell Road
Xavier was 27 when he and his family unlocked the doors for the first time, bringing something La Crosse had never quite had — a Hmong-owned cafe rooted in Southeast Asian tradition and Korean street food energy. The city had plenty of places to eat, but nothing that felt quite like this.
Flavors From Home
The menu is a love letter to Hmong culinary traditions and Korean street food: mochi donuts with pistachio and gold leaf, corndogs rolled in Hot Cheetos, bubble tea in passion fruit and taro.
La Crosse Takes Notice
Within months, The Racquet Press came calling and regulars had memorized their boba orders. A 4.8-star rating built itself one corndog and one bubble tea at a time.
A Gathering Place
Woven pod chairs, pink florals, and a neon 'Hello Gorgeous' sign — Sweet Haus is a place where cultures meet, and where a young family's bet on themselves became the neighborhood's favorite spot.
